Salisbury Steak

  • 1 lb ground beef (should not be done with 80/20)
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 2 Tbsp ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • 1 Tbsp chopped onion
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Pepper to taste
  • Oil for browning
  • Flour for rolling patties
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup


  • Mix all ingredients (not soup or flour) and form into 6 patties.
  • Roll patties in flour
  • Brown patties in oil
  • Pour can of mushroom soup and 1 can water over the patties
  • Cover and simmer for 45 minutes
  • Serve with rice or potatoes

This is one my mom used to make. When the hockey boys told me they were tired of grilled chicken and all of its possibilities (fried rice, chicken alfredo, & Barbecue Chicken pizza), I pulled this one out. They liked it. I really enjoyed it.
