French Toast Casserole

1 loaf french bread torn into 1 inch pieces
8 eggs
3 Cups milk
4 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 tsp salt
TOPPING:
2 Tablespoons butter or margarine
3 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamone

Place bread cubes in a greased 9 by 13 by 2 in. pan. In a mixing bowl, beat eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and salt if desired. Pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Remove from frig 30 minutes before baking. Dot with butter. Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over top.

Bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes or until a knife inserted comes clean.

Let stand for 5 minutes. Serve with syrup.

Make sure you use a big enough pan. It takes alot longer to cook if you don’t use a big enough pan. I use a big cake pan and the layer of bread is pretty thin, but it cooks in the right amount of time.
