Crockpot Beef Stew

2 lb. stew meat
1/4 cup plain flour
2 onions, diced
1 28 oz. can of crushed tomatoes
2 bay leaves
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
3 potatoes, cut in 1 inch pieces
1 1/2 cups beef broth
4 carrots, cut in 1 in pieces
3 stalks celery, chopped
1 tsp. garlic powder
2 tsp. sugar
Salt and pepper to taste

Cut stew meat into 1 inch pieces.  Combine flour, garlic powder, sugar, salt and pepper.  Sprinkle over meat and mix until well blended.  Place in in crockpot.  Add remaining ingredients and stir together.  Cook on high 4-5 hours or low for 8 to 10 hours.

My comments:

I put the pepper in with the flour before putting it in with the meat.  I then browned the meat.  I put the browned meat in a LARGE crockpot.  I put the the dredgings over the top along with the salt, sugar and garlic powder.  After stirring the meat and dry ingredients together, I added all of the other ingredients per the recipe.  The original recipe did not have the Worshestershire sauce, but both my wife and I really enjoy the flavor.  I will make it the same way next time!
